LOEL
OURHISTORY
LOEL
LOEL Viomichanoi Ltd was established in Limassol in 1943 and was the first Public Company in Cyprus, with thousands of shareholders the majority of whom were viticulturists.
The first products were spirits and fortified wines made from indigenous varieties. After the enrichment of Cypriot vineyards with new varieties by the Ministry of Agriculture, LOEL, being the first winery, processed these and produced new quality table wines like Palomino, Negro, Muscat and others.
LOEL also planted its own vineyards, in the vine-growing areas of Limassol and Paphos with both Cypriot and imported varieties such as Maratheftiko, Spourtiko, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and others, for the production of superior quality wines, local, varietal and appellation.
LOELTODAY
LOEL Manufacturing
Today, LOEL produces a wide range of wines, for every taste and budget, with Palomino, Evambelos Gi (from the local varieties of Maratheftiko, Xynisteri and Lefkada) and Mesogios Chora among the most well known. In addition to wines, LOEL also produces quality spirits and juices for the local market, as well as exports to: Russia, Estonia, Greece, England, America, Singapore, Libya, Jordan and others.
In addition to the bottling of wines, LOEL pioneered in the production of quality wines, at low prices, in Tetra Pack. The wine in packets, with the trade name VINOTHEQUE, are a huge success in the local market and abroad.
Zivana LOEL has been recently expanded to include 2 new products, Zivana GOLD and Zivana RED. The first is oak aged with a touch of honey and the second enriched with cinnamon. Both have already proved to be a huge success.
In addition to this, LOEL is a proud producer of the Commandaria Alasia, a product of protected geographical origin, which is currently available in classic and vintage varieties, both of which have been recognised with many awards, including the Great Taste award in 2016.
A significant recent achievement for LOEL, is the investment made into establishing a new state of the art winery at Ayios Sila in Limassol, which has been designed to produce the finest wines from local indigenous varieties. At this moment in time, the winery may be the best equipped in the whole of Europe and will continue to support the winemaking industry in Cyprus through the purchase of millions of kilos of grapes each year.
